JG Art Gallery proudly presents a compelling summer exhibition featuring three celebrated Pacific Northwest artists— Britt Freda, Lisa McShane, and Robin Jones . Each artist brings a distinct yet harmoniously resonant voice to the show, united by a deep connection to the regional landscape, wildlife, and layered human experience. Their works—ranging from richly symbolic to delicately observational—invite viewers into moments of quiet reflection and urgent awareness.

Britt Freda’s paintings often feature birds and wildlife rendered with luminous detail, serving as poignant metaphors for resilience and fragility in the natural world. “I seek to evoke empathy, compassion, empowerment, to elevate those who may not typically find themselves subjects on gallery and museum walls”.

I choose to paint girls and women, as from the beginning – and continuing into the present time – they have been at the forefront of the environmental and animal rights movements. I choose to paint young people, as they will inherit the planet we leave them. They are also among the strongest and most influential voices in environmental activism today. I like to think of my paintings as ‘portraits of the future’ – the subjects of my paintings will be impacted in the future by the decisions and choices made now .

Andy McConnell’s woodworking is deeply rooted in his Pacific Northwest upbringing and his lifelong engagement with regional artists and the natural environment. His work often features abstract, non‑representational pieces – particularly carved cedar burls and wood-and-epoxy “portal” sculptures – that serve as metaphors for the inner human landscape, exploring identity, accident, balance, and difference.
