Your’re invited to Inspired Interpretations: Art + Poetry – Unique Collaboration of Local Artists & Poets

Join us at JG Art Gallery + Events for a special exhibition celebrating the Intersection of visual art and the written word. Some of the talented artists at JG Art Gallery have created original works inspired by poems selected for the 2025-2026 Ars Poetica, a juried poetry collection organized by Tamarah Rockwood. This dynamic collaboration showcases the creative dialogue between Kitsap County’s poets and visual artists, resulting in a compelling pairing of imagery and verse.

The exhibition opens during the Bainbridge Island Art Walk on Friday, April 3rd, from 6 to 8 pm and it is your opportunity to meet the artists and poets whose work brings this unique concept to life. Immerse yourself in the artwork while experiencing the poetic inspiration behind each piece. Enjoy light refreshments, engage in conversation with the creators, and celebrate the power of artistic expression in our community.

On Saturday, April 11, from 1 to 2 pm. Return to the gallery for an intimate poetry reading. The featured poets will share their works aloud, offering deeper insight into the words that sparked the artists’ visual interpretations

Don’t miss this interplay of poetry and art in a setting that honors both forms of creative expression.

Join us – First Friday April 3rd, 6–8 PM for the opening reception. Show run April 3-27, 2026.

“As the years speed by I find myself often reflecting upon the past ~ good times and not so good, but a life enriched with family and many adventures as well as the ever present joy of creating art. The vista of land, sea and sky have always and continue to inspire my art; especially the way the clouds, sun and moon reflect upon the earth at times transforming the landscape into a panorama bright and sparkly, other times dark and moody, much like the characters reflections in the play. Emily Patrick once wrote that “a painting not looked upon is like a seed that recevies no water”.

Don’t miss the reception on April 1st, from 6-8PM. Showing through April 30th.

JG Art Gallery recently celebrated the 88th birthday of Bainbridge Island artist, Gary Groves. On Friday April 3rd, we will be exhibiting a new selection on his minimalist artwork.
