OffShore: Birds, Boats & Marine Life

oin us – First Friday March 6th, 6–8 PM for the opening reception.

Bainbridge Island sits along one of the great migratory corridors of the Western hemisphere — and the sea has always shaped life here. This March, JG Art Gallery celebrates the spirit of our island with “Offshore”, a group exhibition inspired by the birds and boats that define our region.

Home to more than 250 species of birds and situated along the migratory path stretching from Alaska to Patagonia, Bainbridge also carries a proud maritime heritage — from hand-built wooden schooners to today’s ferries, kayaks, and rowing shells. “Offshore” captures the movement, beauty, and character of life on and above the water that surrounds our island. Shaped by wind, tide, and migration, this carefully curated collection brings together JG Artists from across the region through painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
From luminous seascapes and bold abstract harbors to finely detailed vessels and sculptural forms echoing driftwood, each piece reflects the shifting light, layered tones, and rich textures of shoreline life. Birds become symbols of freedom and fragility. Boats speak to resilience, journey, and connection.

Meet the artists, discover the stories behind the work, and raise a glass to the creative spirit of our region. Extraordinary artwork, local wine, and good cheer await — we’d love to see you there. We look forward to sharing an evening of art, conversation, and coastal inspiration with you

Join us – First Friday March 6th, 6–8 PM for the opening reception. Show run March 6-31, 2026.

Barbara Duzan Bronze 19x25x16 Touch N Go

New by: Barbara Duzan

Barbara Duzan’s bronze sculptures capture the spirit and personality of animals with warmth, humor, and finely observed details. She creates timeless pieces that balance strength and grace.

“This mallard landing is one of my favorite bird sculptures ever. This sculpture was created at a time when two of my main interests converged—birds and flying. When we lived on San Juan Island there were a myriad of winter water birds to watch daily. Touch N Go comes from a movement while flight training. On approach to land you touch the wheels to the runway and then take off again”.
