Dalesandro
Patricia Dalesandro is a native Chicagoan who found her home in the Pacific Northwest. She studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, then built a career as an Art Director that spanned two cities and over two decades — clients included Visa, Starbucks, Microsoft, and McDonald’s, work produced in Chicago and then in Seattle at Hunt Marketing Group. The discipline of that career — compositional precision, the management of attention, the economy of means — informs everything she makes.
The subject is nature, but the question is always emotion. Dalesandro uses nature as a jumping-off point rather than a destination, treating landscape as a structure onto which she can project mood. Light and shadow are her primary materials; movement is the argument. In watercolor she finds spontaneity and vibrancy — the medium does not forgive corrections and she does not ask for them. In oils she works more tactilely, building texture and allowing decisions to accumulate. Ink and charcoal enter the watercolors to accentuate movement and edge.
Her work in the Pacific Northwest draws directly from the land: Bloedel Reserve, the Indianola shoreline, the forests of Olympic National Park, the Suquamish waterfront. These are not postcards. They are reports from a specific quality of light, at a specific hour, in a place she has learned to read. She showed at the Bainbridge Island First Friday Art Walk in 2023 at Realogics/Sotheby’s.
