The surface under moving light

A lone figure leans forward from the waist, head bowed, looking down past its own feet — and the legs beneath are so attenuated that looking down is genuinely alarming. Acott gives it nothing to hold and nothing to reach for. Dark patina throughout, no colour anywhere. Of all her work this is the one where the elongation stops being lyrical and becomes the actual subject: the higher you are, the longer the assessment takes.
