A bushtit on a thin branch against pale blue and cream, the twig drawn in fast dark line. The bird is worked in soft grey with a warm flush at the crown. It is one of three bushtit studies she has here — the same species returned to at different sizes and in different media, which is what a naturalist does rather than what an illustrator does.
