I find a particular stillness in the places where water and tree and sky come together after dark — this is one of those places. I painted these bare-branched trees rising into the moonlit sky as a way of holding onto the quiet I hope this scene offers: a pause, a breath, a moment apart from the noise of the world. The sailboat resting in the distance feels like a small promise.
