Golden larch and dark evergreen stacked in bands beneath a violet mountain, small and horizontal at seven by nine and a half inches. Wallis works in flat opaque zones with almost no blending, so the gold sits against the green as a hard edge. Note for anyone photographing it: this pale high-key surface is difficult to reproduce and blows out easily.
