Five feet tall and her largest canvas here. Rust and crimson trunks rise the full height with gold light burning between them and teal boughs crossing overhead — the same palette as Cathedral 18 but at a scale where the trunks are close to life size and the picture stops being a view. The paint is at its heaviest, the strokes long enough that the hand's whole reach is visible in them. This is the work the Sanctuary title came from: an island as sanctuary, and a grove standing in for the building the title borrows.
