The surface under moving light

Thin linear marks, small circles and short arcs are distributed across a pale cream ground at intervals that feel deliberate without ever repeating. Like Ancient Scroll and Words On A Line it proposes a language and withholds a key; unlike them it groups its marks into clusters with clear space between, so the picture reads as exchange rather than as text. The paint is thin throughout and the drawing carries everything.
