A figure in a green top and chartreuse trousers is upside down on the back of a black bear, and the bear is walking a tightrope. Neither of them appears to be concentrating. Juvonen paints the bear as a heavy black mass with almost no internal modelling, the rope as a single drawn line, and the ground as flat cream — so the entire weight of the picture rests on a stroke about a millimetre wide. The title is the only place the painting acknowledges what it is doing.
