The surface under moving light

This view is built only from real photographs of the work, each lit from a different angle, so you can move the light yourself and watch the real surface answer. It is being captured in the studio and will appear here. Until then we show nothing rather than an imitation.

I work into the unknown — beeswax, damar resin, and pigment fused layer by layer with the torch, letting the heat decide where color settles and where it lifts. In Diamond River, I was noticing where one field of color meets another: that thin dark line holding the blue-grey above and the quieter pale shore below, the white marks arising the way light moves across moving water. Each layer adds and each layer asks me to excavate — the horizon has always been the thing I return to.
