A stand of trees isolated in a golden field, sunlit on one flank, under an open sky. Eleven by fourteen inches. Philpott looks for what he calls overlapping patterns in nature, more sensed than seen, and the whole composition here is one clump of dark against one field of light. Nothing else is included and nothing needs to be.
