Reeds and low bank forms dissolve into pale grey at the top of the picture while the channel below holds a faint silver light. Nine by twelve inches, and the tonal range across the whole thing is perhaps four values. McShane is at her most reduced here — no silhouette, no reflection to speak of, just the point at which a landscape stops being visible.
