The surface under moving light

This view is built only from real photographs of the work, each lit from a different angle, so you can move the light yourself and watch the real surface answer. It is being captured in the studio and will appear here. Until then we show nothing rather than an imitation.

A hillside of houses under snow, roofs in scarlet, cadmium and cobalt stacked up the slope, with a dark ridge and pale sky above. Wade paints each building as two or three flat planes and lets the roof colours do the composing — the eye climbs the hill by following the reds. Twenty-four inches square, and there must be forty structures in it.
