“The world of nature excites and enchants me.”— Barbara Duzan

A wall-mounted head in the trophy manner, its whole surface beaded in near-black with a panel of green and gold foliage worked along one cheek like an inlay. The beadwork here is finer and darker than on Big Bear, so the piece absorbs light where the bear scatters it. The muzzle and eye are left smooth and pale. The title is doing something dry — this is a plant-eater on the wall, mounted in the posture reserved for things that were hunted for being dangerous.
