I worked into the textured surface until the heron emerged — still, upright, watching — the way I find them standing in the marsh when the world goes quiet. The pale moon holds its place in the upper corner, and the reeds barely move. This is the kind of moment I return to again and again in my work: a place apart, where the chaos recedes and something steadier takes hold.
