The surface under moving light

This view is built only from real photographs of the work, each lit from a different angle, so you can move the light yourself and watch the real surface answer. It is being captured in the studio and will appear here. Until then we show nothing rather than an imitation.

I work into the unknown here — beeswax, damar resin, and pigment fused with the torch until the heat decides where the amber settles and where the white drifts across it. That thin dark line is where one field of color meets another, the horizon doing what it always does: separating and pairing at once. I am always adding layers, then reaching down to smooth and excavate.
