The surface under moving light

A pale field, mostly cream and bone, carrying a scatter of small marks in cobalt, oxblood and ochre that thicken toward the upper left and thin out below. The distribution is the subject: nothing here depicts a bird or a route, but the density gradient does what a migration does, which is to make a direction visible without drawing one. It is the sparest of Juvonen's abstracts and the one that most rewards standing back.
