I work in these quiet hours — moonrise over still water, the evergreens holding their dark shapes at the edge — because this is where I find the hope I want to leave behind. The light lifts off the water just enough, the clouds soften the moon, and for a moment the chaos of the world recedes. This is the kind of place I want to preserve: a legacy of the magical places here, offered as respite.
