The surface under moving light

A mare and foal, painted pinto in white and umber patina, standing with their heads turned toward one another — and given exactly the same impossibly long thin legs Acott gives her people. On a horse the distortion reads differently: newborn foals really are almost all leg, so the exaggeration lands as observation rather than style. The largest of her animal works and the only pair among them.
