Thirty-eight by forty inches, and the most enclosed picture he has here: a creek running through dense green undergrowth with pale trunks either side and light coming from behind. The water is narrow and mostly hidden. Philpott's larger canvases usually open out; this one closes in, and the title suggests that is the point.
