A zebu bull in three-quarter view, a vermilion tilak on its forehead, a marigold garland heavy around its neck, and a small robed figure seated on the crown of its head. The narrow upright format crops hard on both sides, forcing the composition into a column. Juvonen paints the animal's dewlap and the loose fold of the shoulder with real weight, then leaves the ground bare. Of all his improbable pairings this is the one where the improbability is somebody's actual belief.
