The surface under moving light

A red church with a steeple stands among snow-covered roofs under a gold sky, with fence posts capped in white running across the foreground. The drifts are laid in thick cream and blue-violet slabs. Wade keeps the church the only saturated red in the picture and puts the warmest sky directly behind it, so the building is lit from behind rather than in front.
