Wood relief — mixed woods, paint applied in specific fields. The title is declarative: the piece announces a condition of survival. Grain reads through the paint; the wood's history is present beneath the color fields, the bare material and the applied surface in dialogue rather than opposition. Kyong builds each piece from selected woods, constructing layered surfaces that begin a conversation between light and shadow.
