A long horizontal sheet in deep indigo carrying a boat built entirely from gold leaf — hull, mast and pole rendered as flat gilded planes with the blue ground worked in faint watery pattern around them. A small pale bird and a moon sit at the right. Charon takes the dead across for a coin, and Fisher makes the vessel the only precious thing in a picture that is otherwise all water and dark.
