The surface under moving light

This view is built only from real photographs of the work, each lit from a different angle, so you can move the light yourself and watch the real surface answer. It is being captured in the studio and will appear here. Until then we show nothing rather than an imitation.

Three skiers seen from behind, standing at the top of a run in green, red and cobalt jackets, poles in hand, snow falling away in front of them. Wade paints them as blocks of saturated colour against pale blue-white and gives them no faces at all. The composition is simply three verticals and a slope, and it holds because the jackets are the only warm colour on the canvas.
