An osprey at the instant of a strike — wings thrown fully open and back, talons down, a fish already taken beneath it, the whole mass balanced on a base of worked water and rock. It is Duzan's most dramatic bronze and the largest of her bird pieces. The wingspan carries almost all the visual weight, and she keeps the feather detail crisp at the primaries and loose toward the body so the spread reads as fast rather than displayed.
