Nearly six feet across: a single root system in silver leaf and cross-hatching laid horizontally across book-matched walnut burl, the trunk rising at the right and the roots reaching the full width of the panel. Drawn against the burl's own swirling figure, the root and its ground are hard to separate at the edges. Roots do travel, slowly and without leaving; the title is doing more than it first appears.
