A large-headed figure in a green cap sits inside the body of an enormous coral-scaled fish, a sail rigged from her shoulder, small fish swimming past below the waterline. Three feet square. Fathom is a measure of depth and also a verb about understanding, and the picture holds both — she is being carried by something she is inside of and cannot see the whole of.
