An unmade bed with white linen tumbled across it, warm light falling from the left, the room behind in shadow. The whites run the full range from blue-cool in the folds to cream where the light lands. It is the most purely painterly thing Ingalls has here — no object, no narrative, just cloth and light — and the title is the only thing that suggests anybody was in it.
