A wren sits at the top of a long bare stem rising from a small square base, eighteen inches up, with nothing else in the piece at all. The stem curves once and the bird's weight is set slightly off the axis so the whole thing looks as if it has just settled. Duzan gives the wren its cocked tail and round-shouldered crouch, and gives the viewer a great deal of empty vertical to look through first.
