And Here There Was You

I built this on worn, familiar ground — layers of pattern, botanicals, and a peacock moving through a jewel-toned garden of orange, red, and teal blooms — then let a bold swath of deeply textured red interrupt from above, the modern and unexpected pressing down on what time has already softened. Worn surfaces and dense floral motifs combine into something soft and familiar; then that red field arrives, abrupt and alive. A resting place for the eye, as something reinvented emerges: gentle old meets dynamic new. Mixed media, acrylic, and found objects on canvas. 16 × 36 × 2 in. 2025.
