Easy Way Out
A road running straight away from the viewer between fields, trees closing the far end, the tarmac carrying blue-violet shadow across it. The road is the subject and it has not been prettified. This is what is meant by a preservationist painter who does not remove the ugly elements — the infrastructure stays in, painted with the same care as the trees, because it is part of what the place actually looks like now.
