The Vikings
A tall dark painting built around a single frontal figure — or several stacked, it stays deliberately unclear — with pale eyes set high and long vertical striations running the height of the canvas. The palette is close to black, relieved only by cold blue and bone. It reads as a carved thing rather than a painted one, and it is the most severe picture in Juvonen's catalogue.
