Labyrinth

Brian Fisher

Two hounds stand nose to tail above a golden labyrinth, their elongated bodies worked in ochre and rust on a cream ground, the maze beneath rendered as flat interlocking key pattern. The animals' legs align with the maze's verticals so creature and ground share one geometry. Asterion is the name the Minotaur was given at birth — the monster considered as somebody's child — and the dogs standing watch over the maze rather than in it change the story's temperature considerably.
