Auquor Meditatio
Auquor Meditatio is part of a series where I explore the linen spiraling technique I have developed over the last 28 years of working with bamboo. This particular piece has two layers of curved bamboo splits, sewn and layered together. The cobalt blue glass beads swirl through the interior. In this series I am inspired by the DNA structure, seashells, and the unique and complex method used to create these pieces. The spiraling forms change depending on the number of bamboo strips used, their length, curvature, layering, and the placement of handmade glass beads, becoming increasingly complex. Each glass beads reflects the structure back to the viewer and catches light, highlighting the internal pattern. This piece hangs from the ceiling and it best displayed with some wall space for its shadow. The hanging mechanism is fishing line and a hook in the ceiling. It can be put on a freestanding stand, however then there is a rod in the middle of it.
