Byzantium
A small cut metal figure on a wood block, arms raised, with a crowned or horned form at the head. Six inches at most. Fisher's little cut pieces work like maquettes for the large silhouettes, and this one carries the frontal, arms-up posture of an orant — the praying figure of early Christian art, which is exactly what Byzantium would have inherited.
