Centaur Libation Bowl

Brian Fisher

Four centaurs stand in a ring on splayed forelegs, arms raised, and on their shoulders rests a plain white ceramic bowl. The figures are flat cut forms in dark metal; the bowl is a solid volume. That collision of a two-dimensional support and a three-dimensional vessel is the whole idea — the creatures are drawings holding up a real object. A libation bowl is for pouring out, so the piece is designed around something that will not stay in it.
