Hope Sings

Lorri Acott

A figure reaches one arm straight up and a small bird has landed on the fingertip. The lower body flares slightly like a gown so the whole silhouette is a narrow triangle — the widest point at the hem, the narrowest at the bird. Acott patinates it warm gold throughout. The bird is a few square millimetres of bronze and the entire nineteen inches beneath it exists to get there.
