Invictus
A dense knot of figures in scarlet, turquoise and gold leaf, crowded into a small sheet with a crowned or radiate head near the top. Everything overlaps; nothing has room. Against The Ferryman's long empty blue this is Fisher at his most compressed, and the title — unconquered — sits oddly and deliberately against a composition where no single figure can get clear of the others.
