Barbara Duzan

A hare lying with its head raised and legs folded beneath, four inches long, in pale ceramic left unglazed and warm. Duzan is working directly in the netsuke tradition — a small carved toggle made to be handled, with no sharp projection anywhere and every surface resolved because every surface will be touched. The head lift is the only movement in it. Made as a pair with a bronze cast of the same hare.
