Douglas fir, Ecopoxy (soy-based resin), acrylic paint. Square dark-stained cedar, vertical grain. Concentric circles recede inward: charcoal outer ring, sage green middle, cerulean blue center disk with white dots arranged in a regular pattern. The dots — McConnell’s most explicitly decorative mark — sit inside the deepest recession. The Portal series: seven works, one structure, no two the same.
