Songbird Sanctuary
A branching form mounted on the wall, its whole length covered in fine grey beadwork, with small beaded songbirds perched along it. Duzan builds the bark texture entirely from bead placement — no carving reads through — and the birds are worked in warmer colour so they surface from the grey at a distance. It is the quietest of her mixed-media pieces and the only one where nothing has been taken from anything. A sanctuary in her hands is a made object with room on it.
