Splayed Shadow
Long shadows thrown across a bright yellow-green field from a dark treeline at the top, fanning outward as they come forward. The field is the most saturated passage in his work here — near chartreuse — and the shadows are blue-violet rather than grey. The title names the geometry, and the picture is essentially a study of how shadow splays when the sun is low and the ground is flat.
