Still, We Belong
A weathered barn sits alone on the horizon line, very small, under a sky that takes four fifths of the canvas. Collado paints that sky as a single worked field of cream and blush and cold grey, scraped back and reworked so it holds atmosphere without holding an event. Below the horizon the ground is dark — blue-green, umber, dragged in short vertical strokes that never resolve into specific vegetation. The barn is the only made thing and it is barely there. This is a painting about scale and the title argues with it: the structure is dwarfed, and it stays.
