The Pearl Divers
Two long figures swim across a coral-red field patterned with pale starbursts, their bodies drawn in black outline and filled with turquoise and jade. They are horizontal, weightless and turned toward each other. It is a monotype, a single impression pulled from the press. The pattern behind them never breaks for the figures, which is what makes the picture feel submerged.
