Three Stages of Transition: Ending, Neutral Zone, New Beginning
Mixed media on salvaged cedar. A vertical cedar panel carrying three stacked circles: turquoise and cream-yellow at top, cream with teal center and scattered dots in the middle, pale lime-green with dotted pattern at bottom. Three states, one material. McConnell studied with poet Robert Sund at Fairhaven College — the title’s transition language (Ending, Neutral Zone, New Beginning) reflects that literary formation. The wood holds all three simultaneously.
