Oil on canvas — impasto. A raven perches atop a stacked cairn of ochre, raw sienna, and umber stones. The bird’s plumage is cerulean and prussian blue; teal beak, burnt sienna neck accents. The flat light blue background gives the composition nowhere to go but the cairn and the bird — deliberately contained.
