Journey of the Moon

Charissa Brock · Bamboo, glass, waxed linen thread, paper · 31″ h × 61″ w × 4″ d

Nothing here has been enhanced. Everything you see is derived from the object — the record below says exactly how each view was made.

Journey of the Moon by Charissa Brock
Set your screen once. Hold a bank card against the screen and slide until the orange outline matches its width.

This is the photograph at true size, for placing it in your room with your phone. Its sides and back will appear here after the studio capture — we will not invent them.

The surface under moving light

This view is built only from real photographs of the work, each lit from a different angle, so you can move the light yourself and watch the real surface answer. It is being captured in the studio and will appear here. Until then we show nothing rather than an imitation.

How it hangs: It hangs by fishing line from the ceiling, or from wall posts attached high up (the artist's note).

Detail · Gallery photograph

“Using bamboo, glass, and thread, I create highly crafted, intricate sculptures that reflect the natural world.”— Charissa Brock

A wide wall piece built from long curved bamboo canes, some dark and some pale, sweeping across from left to right. Thin bamboo ribs are stitched along several of the curves in fan-like rows. At the left, a ring of cane encircles a crescent form set with cobalt blue glass rounds framed in bamboo, and fine bamboo twigs rise from the upper edge.
